#NRF2023, the national Water and Surface Water table km 0 fo |
|
Today begins the week of the Nuevo Regadío Forum , and I have had the honor of opening the table “The State of Irrigation in Spain (II)”. Thank you Alejandro and David for the opportunity to share my vision on three challenges that I consider fundamental in these times of VUCA del Regadío in Spain.
Improve Communication related to irrigation.
Manage an increasingly scarce resource (drought).
Digitize irrigated agriculture.
I have taken advantage of the communication block to thank Fernando Miranda , Secretary of Agriculture and Food of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, for the words he dedicated to me at the Fenacore Technical Conference last March. Thanks also to Fenacore for sharing my article.
In the coming days, the presentation will be able to be viewed, and iAgua magazine will share the presentations of the different Special Data speakers on networks. I advance this chronicle with the title “ Irrigators demand coherence, planning and efficiency to improve irrigation in NRF2023 ”
The Conference began with a vision of the European Union, in which Isidro Campos, from EU Agri, highlighted that sustainability policies will increasingly be more aligned with water policies.
In the first block, Miguel Angel Garcia Turienzo from ITACyL and Antoni Enjuanes from the Generalitat de Catalunya participated. I am not going to summarize today's day, but I am going to share a strong idea per speaker.
Miguel Ángel García: significant reduction in allocations between the Duero Basin Hydrological Plan from 2016-2021 and the current one from 2022-207.

Antoni Enjuanes: has highlighted the modernization project of the Urgell Canals and the importance of PV projects for irrigation support in the Garrigues area, with the challenge of reducing its energy dependence. In 2013 they had an energy cost close to €500,000, while in 2022 it has reached €1.5 M, with a current electricity price of €48/MWh, when the current market price is €137/MWh (285 %).
